Yellow Dragon Cave is a famous scenic spot in Wulingyuan, Zhangjiajie. It has gained the worldwide fame because it enjoys the titles and honors such as "World's Cave Wonders", "the World's Most Beautiful Cave", and "China's Most Beautiful Tourism Cave". So far, the discovered cave covers an area of 100000 km2; the cave is divided into four layers, and there are caves inside caves, and one cave may lead to many others. Sometimes there are caves under the ground too. According to Chinese and foreign geological experts: the size, contents and sceneries of Yellow Dragon Cave have covered all aspects of karst caves. With its huge three-dimensional structure, rich cave landscapes, and land and water sightseeing routes, Yellow Dragon Cave is the world champion in term of karst caves.

The discovered cave in Yellow Dragon Caveis 7.5 kilometers long and 140 meters high, covering an area of 100000 km2. The cave is divided into four layers, and there are caves inside caves. Stalactites, stalagmites, stone blossoms, stone curtains, stone branches, stone canals, stone pearls, and stone macrospores can be seen here and there in the cavern, which constitutes a fantastic yet natural scene. According to the experts, about 380 million years ago, Yellow Dragon Cave area was a world of sea. After a long time, the deposition of soluble limestone and dolomites began in the cave. 65 million years ago, the crust started to uplift, hence appeared the dry caves.
