Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal

Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal is one of the world's most visited centers of pilgrimage. Its founder, Saint Brother André, began construction in 1904. The shrine includes a majestic building whose dome reaches 97 meters (second only in height to Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome), the small original chapel, a votive chapel, a crypt, gardens of the way of the cross, a basilica that can accommodate 2,200 worshipers, and a shrine. Its magnificent organs and its carillon composed of 56 bells give audible testament to the world's great composers. Not to be missed is the exhibition hall showcasing the life of Saint Brother André and many works of religious heritage.
