Xiamen Harbor with deep water and low tide is regarded as a natural port of South China. Ships are allowed to navigate within 24 hours. Apart from coastal traffic lines, Xiamen Harbor also sets southern lines heading for Shantou, Guangzhou and Hainan Island and northern lines bound for Dalian, Tianjin, Qingdao, Yantai, Nanjing, Zhenjiang and Shanghai.
Every week there are liners shuttling between Xiamen and Hong Kong that depart from Xiamen at 5pm every Wednesday to Hong Kong, and leave from Hong Kong to Xiamen at 2pm every Tuesday. Ships serving for the transportation between Heping Dock of Xiamen and Kinmen Shuitou Pier of Taiwan will take you about 40 minutes to get the destination, and are only open to Taiwan compatriots and businessmen. The ticket price is 180 RMB.
