For the past three decades, the Vienna Film Festival held at the City Hall Square has been attracting thousands of visitors annually, making it deservedly one of the most inspirational Vienna summer events.

In 2020, due to the impact of COVID-19, the Vienna Film Festival has changed its traditional form, allowing people to enjoy a movie night surrounded by food while maintaining safe social distance.

The film festival will last for 65 days, once again making the City Hall Square the focus of Vienna.

In front of the neo-Gothic City Hall building, a 300-square-meter wide screen will present a wide range of cultural programs from opera to ballet, from jazz to pop music.

Although more than 5,000 visitors have visited in previous years, this year, due to COVID-19, organizers have lowered the number to 500 to ensure a safe social distance.

In a private room for 2 to 4 people, the audience can focus on works of classical musicians Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Lehár, or Jacques Offenbach, as well as modern musicians like Aretha Franklin, Take That, or Avicii.

In addition, the festival's most popular food court has been scaled down and limited to 500 people, which is small but perfectly formed.

Admission to the event is free, but you need to book in advance to ensure the safety of visitors during COVID-19.

Come and enjoy the night of film surrounded by delicious food in Vienna!
