European Best Destination Award 2021: Rome Ranks Second

Over 600,000 travelers from 192 different countries voted until 10 February on the European Best Destinations website – an independent organization based in Brussels that promotes tourism in Europe also in collaboration with the EDEN network of the European Commission – to choose their favorite destination, the first place they dream of going on holiday as soon as it is possible to travel safely again.

Inserted in the shortlist of the 20 final candidates for the competition, now in its twelfth edition, Rome can be proud of the result achieved, indeed it has seen the fascination exercised by its timeless beauty confirmed. The city of Braga, not surprisingly called the Portuguese Rome, won this sort of Academy Awards for travelling, but Rome ranked second, being the absolute favorite destination for US travelers. After all, Rome is the capital of the world, the ideal destination for a family trip or a romantic getaway, as the award organizers point out in the city’s presentation.
