The Yunnan provincial government held a tourism promotion conference in Paris, which is?considered the romance capital of the world, after a direct flight opened on December 18 between Paris and Kunming, capital of Yunnan province.

The attendants at the tourism promotion meeting are watching the direct filght map.

The Yunnan delegation led by Ding Shaoxiang, vice-governor of Yunnan province, introduced to the French audience the unique geographical position, convenient air traffic and tourism resources of Yunnan.

Ding looked back on Frenchman Auguste Francois’ visit to Yunnan province in 1899 and the opening of the Yunnan-Vietnam railway in 1910, which was constructed jointly by French and Chinese people. He hoped that the historical ties between Yunnan and France could attract more French people to visit this miraculous land in Southwest China.

Ding also said he expected the direct flight could help Yunnan and France cooperate more closely in tourism development.

Martin, vice-mayor of Paris city, expressed congratulations for the opening of the Kunming-Paris direct flight. He said this air corridor will help strengthen communication and cooperation between Yunnan and France, as well as deepen mutual understanding and trust, which will be conducive to the joint development of the two sides.

Corrado Politi, a tourism marketing consultant engaged by the Yunnan Tourism Development Committee, exhibited the abundant tourism resources to the French audience with an amusing presentation and eye-catching pictures. Other members of the Yunnan delegation also made promotions.

Attendants in the tourism promotion conference included Gore Dell, CEO of Charles de Gaulle Airport; Henry , CEO of Air France’s China operations; Vidal, director of the Trade and Development Agency of France; and many other officials, corporate executives and journalists.
