MQ Libelle is a new space for artistic and cultural project on the roof of the Leopold Museum, with its 600 m² terrace open to the public. The new viewing platform in this museum offers seating, small shops selling drinks and snacks, where visitors can also enjoy beautiful scenery of downtown Vienna and overlook Vienna vineyards. MQ Libelle and MQ Terrasse were designed by Laurides and Manfred Ortner, the two architects planned the museum area and numerous large-size new buildings in the late 1990s (Leopold Museum, Vienna Museum of Modern Art, Vienna Art Museum).

The roof-expansion of the Leopold Museum is the first major expansion since opening of Vienna Museum District in 2001 and so many famous Austrian artists join in: the glass wall of MQ Libelle designed by Eva Schlegel and the iconic light fixture on the MQ Terrasse designed by Brigitte Kovantz. MQ Libelle can be used for artistic and cultural projects, it also can be rented for various events. It opens from 10am to 22pm every day except for the winter closure period from November 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021.
