Budapest mayor Gergely Karácsony has shared details of the city’s revitalisation strategy, under the heading ‘Let’s Restart Tourism in Budapest!’, a recent public discussion. The strategy involves a special discount card for attractions, spas and accommodation, developed by BFTK Budapest Festival and Tourism Centre.
The ‘Restart Budapest Card 48h’ is a major innovation to be launched in Wednesday, 1 July. As a product of collaboration between the Budapest Festival and Tourism Centre and the Hungarian Hotels and Restaurants Association (HAH), this card has been set up to promote domestic tourism and will be valid until December 2020. The card offers 48 hours of free and discounted activities and services, including a more budget-friendly way to reserve accommodation for two nights in town, as well.
As another important feature, the Restart Budapest Card 48h can be used to enter one of six spas for free. As and when they open, the Lukács Baths, the Széchenyi or the Rudas can also be used on one occasion. Cardholders can take advantage of the city’s Hop-On Hop-Off services free of charge as well. The card will soon be available for purchase here, or at one of the Budapestinfo Points. The basic card costs 9,900 HUF, with the add-on package 1,500 HUF for an overall price of 11,490 HUF.
