These Free Parks You Can't Miss in Beijing

There are many free parks in Beijing, including Olympic Forest Park, Ritan Park, Honglingjin Park and so on. You should not miss them.

Olympic Forest Park

The Olympic Forest Park is located at Lincui Road of the Fifth Ring Road in Chaoyang District, east from Anli Road, west to Lincui Road, north from Qinghe and south to Kehui Road. The park covers an area of 680 hectares, and 380 hectares for the south garden and 300 hectares for the north one. Enjoyed with abundant forest resources, the green coverage reaches to 95.61%. As one of the construction projects pf the Olympic Green, it is also the AAAA national scenic area.

How to get there: To get to the park, you can take No.8 Metro Line, No. 510 and No.81 Bus, or No.3 Bus Rapid Tansit.

Ritan Park

Located in the southeast of Chaoyangmenwai, Ritan Park is a national AAA tourist attraction and a historic site under national protection. Also known as Temple of the Sun Park, it was the place where the Ming and Qing emperors worshiped the God of the Sun. Variety kinds of flowers and ancient trees flourish along with fountains, lakes, rockeries and pavilions. Thus, it is an ideal leisure place for recuperating, reading books, playing chess.

How to get there: Take Subway Line 1 and get off at Yonganli or Jianguomen Station. Walk along Jianguomenwai Avenue and turn to Ritan Road to the south. Walk 500 meters and the site is on the right to the crossing of Ritan Road and Guanhua Road.

Honglingjin Park

Honglingjin Park is located at Houbalizhuang of Chaoyang District, lies at the northeast corner of East Fourth Ring Road. The green area of the park has covered 23 hectares with the green coverage rate reach to 57%. There are over ten thousands of trees and flowers planted within this huge area and the lawn area is about 66,000 square meters.

In the north side of the plaza there stands the theme sculpture of the Song of Honglingjjin. There are several sculptures of heroes and martyrs surrounding the plaza including Lei Feng, Liu Hulan, Wang Pu, Liu Wenxue, Zhuoya, Xiao Luobotou, Zhang Jinhui, Luo Zhiqun and Deng Jindi etc. Surrounded with flowers and grass looks like a green carpet, the whole plaza filled with a solemn silence.
