2013 Dalian Lüshun Cherry Festival kicks off

The 2013 Dalian Lüshun Cherry Festival kicked off yesterday. Municipal leaders Sun Guangtian, Lu Lin and Xu Guochen attended the opening ceremony.

At the ceremony, Lüshunkou District was awarded with a plaque as an "Excellent Agricultural Products Supply Base"; six distributors including China Resources Vanguard. Co. Ltd. (CR Vanguard) and Harbin Agricultural Products Co. Ltd. signed agreements with six cherry suppliers like Lüshun Xindao Cherry Cooperatives and Lüshun Wangchun Cherry Cooperatives.

Lüshun Cherry is entitled by the MOA as a "National Geographical Indication Product" and won an award of "Top 100 Agricultural Regional Public Brand Value" and a "Gold Medal of China Famous Fruit". Lüshun's cherry industry has become an important backup of the Lüshun National Agricultural Technology Park, a new engine for the district agricultural economic development, and a pillar industry to increase farmers' income. This year, Lüshunkou District opens about 100 cherry-picking garden to tourists for sightseeing, cherry-picking, leisure and experience. It produces new tourism routes by replying on its local tourism resources to allow tourists to experience its fruit-picking culture. The 2013 Dalian Lüshun Cherry Festival will last till July 15.
