Mobike, the world’s first smart bikeshare company, continues to expand its European presence after the launch of three new cities in September. The new cities in Spain and Germany now means that Mobike is live in 23 European cities, just over a year since first launch.

At the start of September, Mobike opened in the German city of Hanover. The launch quickly followed the recent expansion from Berlin into Düsseldorf and Cologne.

More recently, Mobike expanded its operations in Spain. In June this year, Mobike first entered Spain in Madrid, and is quickly extending its reach with launches in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat near Barcelona, and in Zaragoza.

As in all markets, Mobike has partnered with elected officials to bring bikesharing to cities, in order to help reduce congestion and improve urban mobility, which includes developing various initiatives aimed at promoting the responsible use of cycling as a means of urban transport.

"Our goal is to build the trust the city has placed in us, and improve transportation in Hanover for the long term," said Beate Overbeck, Head of Government Affairs and Business Development at Mobike in Germany.

Ms. Overbeck added: “We want to offer people in Hanover a sustainable and responsible mobility solution.”

Mobike, which places great emphasis on the maintenance and distribution of its bicycles, has established teams of local employees in the new cities to ensure its bikes are kept in top condition and distributed efficiently and effectively. The company is also deploying its latest 3-geared bike that gives riders the greatest possible comfort.

Hunab Moreno, General Manager, Mobike Spain, said: "We are very pleased with the willingness shown by the mayor and her team to collaborate with Mobike to explore how, together, we can improve mobility and sustainability in l'Hospitalet de Llobregat.  For Mobike, it is a great opportunity to start riding in Catalonia thanks to L’Hospitalet, which represents the financial and service center for the entire metropolitan area of Barcelona "

Moreno explained that in the city of Zaragoza Mobike "will work on road safety measures and bicycle parking protocols, in partnership with the City Council".

Across Europe, Mobike is now present in Europe in London, Cambridge, Oxford, Newcastle, Delft, Rotterdam, Paris, Zaragoza, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Madrid, Berlin, Hanover, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Milan, Florence, Bologna, Turin, Reggio Emilia, Bergamo, Pesaro, Mantua and Tirana.
