China Eastern to launch Chengdu-Nanjing-Los Angeles route in June

China Eastern Airlines announced that it will launch flights from Sichuan to the west coast of the United States this summer. Chengdu-Nanjing-Los Angeles flights will be Sichuan capital city of Chengdu's second air route to the US, and will commence on June 30.

Airbus A330 type aircrafts will operate on the new route. Regular flights are scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from both directions. The Airbus A330s have 232 seats including 203 for the economy-class, and 29 for the business-class and the first-class.

Passengers taking the Chengdu-Nanjing-Los Angeles flights will not be required to transfer into another plane when the Airbus A330 stops over in Nanjing, said an official responsible for operations at the Sichuan Branch of China Eastern Airlines.

The official also added that there will be a surge in demand for air tickets from China to the United States during China's peak tourism season in July and August. During those two months, the airfare for a one-way trip ticket to the US could be as high as more than 10,000 yuan ($ 1612), according to relevant data regarding the airfares. China Eastern Airlines will offer its preferential price in July. The full-fare economy class round-trip ticket that normally costs 38,000 yuan will be offered at a discounted price of 4,060 yuan only.

Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province in southwestern China. It is the natural habitat of giant pandas. Its cotton-rose hibiscus is also famous.

China Eastern Airlines serves two air routes to the United States from Chengdu. The first direct flights from Chengdu to the US have been launched in June 2014 and fly to San Francisco.

Nanjing is the capital city of East China's Jiangsu province. It is a national center of education, research, transport networks and tourism. From July 7 to 13, it will hold the "Nanjing Week" to promote itself at the Expo Milano 2015 in Italy.

Los Angeles, located in Southern California, is the second largest city in the United States, and the most populous city in the U.S. state of California.
