A new study conducted by Allianz Global Assistance states that despite the terrorist attacks in Europe this year, the summer travel to popular tourist destinations like Paris and London is estimated to witness a steady rise in 2017.
The report states that this summer the travel to London would increase by 36.55% year-on-year.
On the other hand, the travel to Paris would observe a rise by nearly 28.77% thereby making these two European cities the first and second most favorable tourist locales for Americans travelling to Europe. Allianz said that the rise would actually bring these cities closer to the number of Americans who had arrived in summer 2015, before the deadly November 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris.
The study also examined that package bookings and online airfare for partners offering the travel insurance of Allianz Global Assistance from 1st January till 30th April for the itineraries arriving in Europe starting from 29th May till 7th September.
During this period, London head to bear the brunt of a severe terror attack wherein a terrorist had driven a truck into a walking crowd along Westminster Bridge prior to crashing into the gates of the House of Commons.
And, in Paris, a terrorist had shot a police van on Champs Elysees claiming one police officer's life.
However, this study does not include the terrorist bombing that had occurred last week at the concert of Ariana Grande in the region of Manchester. Currently, Europe is under a travel alert from the U.S. State Department cautioning American citizens against making trips to the top tourist attractions of the cities as well as the shopping areas and other ‘soft targets'.
The travel alert is scheduled to continue through the summer travel season that expires on 1st September.
