The Beautiful Mudanjiang won LAFA, improving the international judges' understanding of the beautiful China in the new era

Recently, the 10th work of the famous documentary film director Tian Wen, The Beautiful Mudanjiang, was awarded the Excellence in Short Film (Documentary) of Los Angeles Film Awards (LAFA). In early 2019, Tian Wen won LAFA and the award of Canada International Film Festival with another film of him, A Poetic Soar. The Beautiful Mudanjiang is another work of Tian that won an international film award. It is also the 23rd international award won by Tian Wen. The Beautiful Mudanjiang has improved international judges’ understanding of beautiful New China, and showcase a new image of “snowy forest and wild land” to Chinese people.

Tian Wen is an influential documentary director in the world, and the founder of image film of Chinese cities and tourism. The films he has shot over the past ten years have all won international film awards. Tian Wen said, “In the past ten years, I’ve done only one thing, that is, presenting a beautiful China with green development. What I did have gained recognition from the world.” As a director, to showcase a new image of China to the world has always been Tian Wen’s desire. "China's economic and social development has advanced by leaps and bounds in recent years. The achievements in green development and ecological construction are more worth affirming and promoting. To introduce a beautiful China that has never forgotten her original aspiration and actively made contribution to a community with a shared future for mankind. This is also my aspiration, or my lifelong mission.”

Talking about his original intention of producing The Beautiful Mudanjiang, Tian Wen said, “When I first arrived at Mudanjiang, I was impressed by the stories and emotions contained by this snowy and wild land. This is a majestic and graceful city. While observing material objects through camera, we need to examine and convey spiritual concepts at the same time. I want to integrate the developments and changes of Mudanjiang into my film, to introduce a brand-new Mudanjiang and Northeast China to the world and deepen people’s new understanding of beautiful China.”

Nearly 20 years’ documentary creation experience has given Tian Wen a deeper understanding of China’s development. He said, “I feel lucky to have opportunities to visit so many different places and discover the beauty of China. I’ve been widening my horizon through all these years, as I wish to showcase the rapid change of China in this new era with an international outlook.” After frequently attending international film festivals and other large-scale events, Tian Wen has felt the affirmation and respect of international audiences to China’s remarkable achievements.

Today, Chinese documentaries and image films have already gained their own place in the world. Tian Wen said proudly, "The changing times always need some unchanging sceneries, which are our ardent love for our home and country. China’s vast territory and profound culture have made enough room for Chinese people’s imagination and creation. I will keep my original inspiration in mind, continue to move forward and introduce more Chinese cities to the globe, so that international society can hear more Chinese voices."
