【Introduction】:That said, overall tourism is slowly increasing – around 9,100 visitors entered and 1,100 left Macau, Sunday 8 March.
Wednesday 11 Mar marked the 36th day that Macau recorded no new Covid-19 infections.
According to the Public Security Police Force (PSP), daily crossings in and out of the territory are on the rise, although over 70% of these are currently made by locals.
That said, overall tourism is slowly increasing – around 9,100 visitors entered and 1,100 left Macau, Sunday 8 March.
The clean bill of health prompted Singapore politician Lim
“The territory now has zero coronavirus patients and no new cases for over a month,” he commented in his Facebook page. “Despite being next to China's mainland, it only had 10 cases of the virus.”
The containment of the outbreak in Macau has indeed been swift and efficient, thanks to the temporary closing of casinos and other entertainment centres, government-led mask distribution and wide public mask usage.
As the territory prepares to gradually open facilities and services, Air Macau’s website shows the reduced quota of flights to mainland cities may start to slowly increase as early as 16 March.
Chengdu and Hangzhou as well as Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin may be the earliest to see additional flights added to their weekly tally.
