There's not a whole lot you can do in just 12 minutes, but travelers will soon be able to fly from Toronto to Niagara Falls in just that much time.

That's because next month, travelers looking to reach the natural wonder from Ontario's capital city will be able to leave their car at home and hop on a ridiculously short Greater Toronto Airways flight, according to the Star.

"We’re trying to provide a more-convenient service for people," the private airline's vice president of operations David Nissan told the Star. "If you look at the commute versus the flight time, there’s a massive difference."

Starting Sept. 15, Greater Toronto Airways will offer daily flights from Billy Bishop Airport in Toronto to Niagara-on-the-Lake's Niagara District Airport.

The flights will start at $85 one-way or $159 for round-trip. While more expensive than driving, the flights are sure to reduce the headaches brought about by the hour-plus drive around Lake Ontario.

"It’s frustrating to drive when you can shoot across the lake," Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati said in a press conference earlier this month. Once service is launched next month, Greater Toronto Airways will offer two round-trips Monday through Friday year-round. The flights will be operated on eight-seater planes departing Toronto at 7:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. local time. Return flights will take off from Niagara at 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. local time.

The flight is advertised as taking 15 minutes but Nissan said it can be completed in as little as 12 minutes.

According to the Star, passengers will be asked to arrive 15 minutes ahead of takeoff and don't need a passport to fly. Security checks will be conducted onboard via random checks to help speed up the process.
