Passenger Volume at Sanya International Airport Reaches 19.4 Million in 2017

【Introduction】:The Sanya Phoenix International Airport registered more than 19 million passengers passing through its terminals during 2017, according to statistics released on December 31st, 2017.

The Sanya Phoenix International Airport registered more than 19 million passengers passing through its terminals during 2017, according to statistics released on December 31st, 2017.

A total of 19,389,936 passengers used Sanya airport as a point of departure, arrival or transit throughout 2017. Among them, the passenger throughput of international terminal at the airport this year reached 846,943, a record high for the airport.

The figures released reveal consistent growth in passenger traffic, demonstrating that Sanya airport continues to expand as a major hub in Asia processing more passengers than ever before.

Contributing to the significant rise in traffic was the increased international flight service options, airport’s ever-improving supporting facilities and upgraded management.

In pursuit of capacity improvement and service excellence, Sanya Airport clinched the top awards at the 2016 ASQ Awards – -”Best Airport by Size: 5-15 Million Passengers”: 2nd place.

In 2017, the airport has been making great efforts in the expansion of international flight routes. This September, the Sanya airport and HNA Airport Group jointly attended the 23rd World Route Development Forum 2017. At the forum, the Sanya airport has signed a joint letter of intent with Siberia Airlines to further expand the international air route network between the two regions.The Sanya Airport also signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Sheremetyevo International Airport agreeing to establish a “sister airport” relationship.
