To expand its access to the Southeast Asian tourism market, Sanya opened a new Sanya-Johor Bahru-Kuala Lumpur air route on August 19th, 2018.
The new flight is jointly operated by Hainan United Airlines Travel Group and Malindo Air.
The regularly scheduled flight will depart from Kuala Lumpur each Sunday at 8:45 p.m., arrive in Johor Bahru at 9:45 p.m. and finally stop at Sanya at 2 a.m. the following day. The return flight each Monday will depart from Sanya at 3 a.m., arrive at Johor Bahru at 6:30 a.m., and finally arrive at Kuala Lumpur Airport at 8:15 a.m. (There is no time difference between Sanya, China and Kuala Lumpur.)
In concordance with China’s “Belt and Road” development strategy, Sanya is working to expand its economic reach into the markets of Southeast Asia. The opening of the Sanya-Johor Bahru-Kuala Lumpur air route will help to promote Hainan’s new visa-free entry policy for travelers from 59 countries and make traveling to Sanya easier for Malaysian tourists.
The opening of the new air route, which has been added to Sanya Airport’s 2018 summer/autumn flight schedule, follows the opening of three other new charter flight routes: the Sanya-Barnaul route, the Sanya-Kemerovo route, and the Sanya-Tomsk route.
Currently, Sanya has flight routes to eight cities in Southeast Asia and to thirteen cities in Russian-speaking countries. In the near future, the city will expand its air network to include more destinations in Japan, South Korea, and Europe.
