Entering Africa-Nairobi

Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, covers an area of 648 square kilometres and has a population of about 2.16 million. It is located on a plateau of 1680 meters above sea level in central and Western Kenya, about 480 kilometres from Mombasa, Kenya's largest port. Nairobi means "Cold Water" in the local Marseille language, which is not difficult to understand from the city's cool climate (average annual temperature 17.7 degrees Celsius).
