Recently, the Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage issued the "Guidelines for the Orderly reopening of Museums during the Epidemic Prevention and Control Period", instructing museums to get well prepared for their orderly reopening and to receive and provide services for visitors when they reopen.
According to the guidelines, museums in Beijing are not allowed to reopen without the authorization from the administrative department of the industry. After receiving the formal notice, they should consider the overall situation of their own and think carefully to decide the specific time for reopening. Meanwhile, according to the principle that museums must conduct management and take responsibility for themselves after their reopening, the museums should assume primary responsibility to adopt effective measures for epidemic prevention and control as well as orderly reopening. They should ensure that they are fully prepared to reopen, that their employees are healthy, that it is safe to visit, and that they reopen safe and orderly.
The guidelines proposes that museums in Beijing should follow they principle of "one museum, one policy" to formulate their own work plan and emergency plan for their reopening during the epidemic prevention and control period, and establish corresponding working mechanisms. They should assess their safety regarding the epidemic prevention and control, and areas that do not meet standard are not allowed to open. The following areas are temporarily unavailable: indoor theaters, places for promotion and education, catering service areas, interactive display areas, merchandise sales areas, indoor exhibition areas, exhibition halls with many exhibits that are exposed in the air. They should suspend cultural exchanges, itinerant exhibitions, academic seminars or other projects outside the province or the mainland.
According to the guidelines, museums that reopen should fully implement the method of real-name reservation to visit. Based on the scientific calculation of the number of visitors, they should arrange the visiting time properly, receive visitors in separate batches during different periods, and carry out real-time monitoring to prevent unexpected situations. Public activities should be suspended to avoid crows, including public catering services, cultural lectures and on-site promotion and education. The museums should suspend guided tour services and advocate digital visiting methods such as digital self-guided audio tour, and QR code scanning and recognition. They should also optimize their services, reasonably plan the routes for visitors to enter, visit and exit, and guide them to visit separately, ensuring that the distance between them is more than 1.5 meters.
