Universal Orlando Resort will open a fourth theme park, Universal's Epic Universe, on a 750-acre site a few miles south of its existing Florida parks.
Universal Parks & Resorts chairman and CEO Tom Williams said Epic Universe will be "the most immersive and innovative theme park we have ever created."
"Universal's Epic Universe will take guests on a journey where beloved stories expand into vibrant lands -- and where that journey is as much a part of their adventure as the ultimate destination," Universal said in a statement.
The park site is south of Sand Lake Road and east of Universal Boulevard. Universal is investing $160 million to extend Kirkman Road to its new park location.
Universal was mum on Epic Universe details and when the park would open. It said details will be announced over time. The park will have hotels, shops, an entertainment center and restaurants.
Universal Orlando will hire 14,000 employees to staff Epic Universe. It currently employs 25,000.
Universal Orlando currently operates three theme parks, seven hotels and Universal CityWalk, an entertainment and dining complex.
