【Introduction】:Cartagena de Indias (Cartagena for short) is the top leisure and business tourism destination for Colombians and it’s growing in popularity for tourists around the world. The 5th most populous city in Colombia was declared a World heritage site by the UNESCO in 1984 as well a Historic and Cultural District since 1991.

Cartagena de Indias (Cartagena for short) is located on the Caribbean Sean in a peaceful bay that bears its name in the north region of Colombia and South America. Cartagena de Indias is the top leisure and business tourism destination for Colombians and it’s growing in popularity for tourists around the world. The 5th most populous city in Colombia was declared a World heritage site by the UNESCO in 1984 as well a Historic and Cultural District since 1991.

Cartagena de Indias was founded in 1533 by Spanish conqueror Pedro de Heredia and it is now considered one of the most beautiful testimonies to colonial history in the Caribbean. It is a magical epicenter of a story that is still alive and can be felt in each of its squares, stately houses, and cobblestone streets that surrounded by an 11 kilometer wall. This blend of modern structures, squares, museums, colonial houses, city walls, forts and bulwarks is not only a historical heritage that testifies to America’s integration into western civilizations, but an impressive touristic offer that captivates local and foreigners. Other recommended places are: Fort of San Felipe de Barajas, La Popa Monastery, Rosario Islands, National Aviary of Colombia, Museums Route, and Mangrove Tours.

Catagena de Indias has been recognized with some awards as: Sustainable Tourist Destination by ICONTEC (2015), Second destination emerging in the world (2015), first in Colombia and World Travel Award as the best tourist destination in Colombia (2016).

Cartagena has dos weather seasons, summer from December to March and rain season from August to November. However, the city has 365 days of warm weather

There are five tourist information desks where tourist people could find a printer map, brochures and flyers for tourist services. These are integrated into the national network of tourist information desks.

These are located in: Aduana Square, Rafael Nunez International Airport – arrival hall of domestic flights, Port of Cartagena, La Paz Square and Bocagrande.
