El Badi Palace

El Badi Palace (in Arabic meaning unique palace), whose funds for construction was the ransom provided by Portugal after the Battle of Three Kings, was affected by Alhambra Palace of Granada in design style. There used to be 360 rooms, a 135 m*110 m courtyard and a 90 m*20 m swimming pool in El Bahi Palace, decorated by Italian marble and gold imported from Sudan. In addition, there is a tunnel prison underground for remanding the prisoner of the king in custody. El Badi Palace had been built for 25 years, during which some parts were pulled down by Alaouite Sultan Moulay Ismail, who took away some materials to build his own palace located in Mekness. Now, El Badi Palace has been widely repaired, including the rebuilding of the walls, the swimming pools and etc.
