As an institutional member of the WTCF (World Tourism Cities Federation) and Secretary-General unit of WTCF’s Committee of Civil Aviation, Air China is committed to conducting extensive exchanges and cooperation with members under the leadership of the WTCF, and based on the core concept of a "dream landing", jointly promote sustained growth of tourism.
Aerial Bridges for Economic Development of Tourism Destinations
Tourism is a social activity that involves all economic aspects. Naturally, tourism development promotes the diversified development of destinations. In 2018, Air China continued to expedite the development of a Beijing-centered global air route network by launching the Beijing-Houston-Panama City route on April 5th, which operates every Thursday and Sunday. The Beijing-Copenhagen non-stop route was launched on May 30th, which operates four times a week and the Beijing-Hanoi route on June 1st, which also operates four times a week. The launch of the new routes despite an apparent slowdown in growth of international routes and gradual recovery of business travel shows Air China’s confidence in continuing to achieve steady and stable growth in 2018. This will undoubtedly play a role in promoting Air China into an internationally competitive network-based airline, enabling us to build an aerial bridge for economic development of tourism destinations.
Aerial Bridges for “Belt and Road”
The implementation of the national "Belt and Road" strategy created a new opportunity for continuous extension of Air China's air route network, boosting the development of Air China's international network. In recent years, Air China has implemented the "Belt and Road" strategy with the aim to develop a core hub in Beijing and a regional hub in Chengdu, and to build an international gateway in Shanghai, focusing on European and American markets, and extending Asia, Africa and Oceania routes.
Air China will launch the Beijing-Phnom Penh route on September 3rd, 2018. Phnom Penh is the political, economic, cultural, religious and transportation center of Cambodia. The Phnom Penh International Airport lies 8 kilometers southwest of Phnom Penh, in the suburbs. It can accommodate large aircraft, and operate flights to Battambang, Siem Reap, Kompong Chhnang and cities around the world. Many tourists bound for Thailand transfer at this airport. The launch of the air route will facilitate China-Thailand cooperation in energy, transport, tourism, culture, economic trade and other fields.
As China's only national flag carrier, Air China will continue to build more convenient aerial bridges for the "Belt and Road" initiative and implement other national strategies while fulfilling its social responsibility and growing stronger.
Shared Cooperation and Learning from Each Other
While continuously accelerating the Beijing-centered global air route network, Air China has advanced its intercontinental routes in key cities. As an institutional member of the WTCF and Secretary-General unit of WTCF’s Committee of Civil Aviation, Air China is committed to conducting extensive exchange and cooperation with members under the leadership of the WTCF, and based on the core concept of a "dream landing", jointly promote sustained growth of tourism.
Air China and the WTCF share their experience of collaboration and mutual learning at informal tourism promotion conferences, to further advance mutually beneficial and pragmatic tourism cooperation. With the help of WTCF and its stable global network, Air China will continue to expand cooperation and exchange among tourism cities, to achieve the goal of "resource sharing, complementary advantages and win-win".
