Penang, the 2nd biggest city in Malaysia is home to the popular Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM). The run is organized by Penang State Tourism Development office and fully supported by the Penang State Government. The Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM) has been an anticipated run in Malaysia since its inception in 1986. The run is held annually on the Penang Bridge, the iconic bridge that connects Penang Island to Penang Mainland. PBIM is the largest mass-participation sporting event in Penang, bringing tens of thousands of runners out onto the streets.
The World's Longest Bridge Marathon – Penang Bridge International Marathon will be held on 26 November 2017. This year, the Penang Bridge International Marathon Committee is targeting a total of 35,000 from both local and overseas.
In 2014, ASICS Penang Bridge International Marathon (APBIM) has successfully attracted 60,000 runners from local and overseas which was the largest crowd of all-time as it was held for the first time ever on the Longest Bridge in South East Asia with 24km-long, known as Sultan Abdul Halim Muad’zam Shah Bridge which is also called the second Penang Bridge.
