Hamburg Miniature Wonderland Voted Champion Among the Top 100 Sights and Attractions in Germany 2017

The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) organized the global vote for the “The Top 100 Sights and Attractions in Germany 2017,” which started in 2012 and has been held every year since then. All international visitors can submit their favorite sights and attractions through the official website of the GNTB. From last September to this June, 32,000 visitors from more than 60 countries participated in this event. The previously crowned Hamburg Miniature Wonderland was voted champion again, Warehouse District/Kontorhausviertel 47th, Elbe Philharmonic Hall (Elbphilharmonie) 51th, and Port of Hamburg and Hamburg Fish Market (Fischmarkt Hamburg) 62th. It is the first time that four sights and attractions in Hamburg have been voted among the top 100 German sights and attractions.

The Great Project in the Small World

Hamburg Miniature Wonderland’s creators and operators, Gerrit and Frederik Braun brothers, felt quite satisfied with this honor, “The past several days are incredible to us! The Miniature Wonderland’s 16th birthday dawned upon August 16, and the 16,000,000th visitor came the following day. It’s a fairy tale to us when the sight has been voted the most popular attraction in the whole Germany. We firmly believe that even though we grow to adults, we cannot forget our childhood’s golden times. Our miniature world can bring happiness to every visitor from around the world.”

Listed among the UNESCO Heritage Sites, Warehouse District is one of the central sights of Hamburg. The top nine themes of the Miniature Wonderland include more than 15km-long tunnels, 15,000 motor vehicles and trucks, 215,000 human figurines, and 4,000 houses. The range begins from Austria, Scandinavia and the United States, stretching to Italy, and still keeps expanding.

Knuffingen Airport opened to the public in May 2015, after expanding for six years and costing 3,500,000 Euros in total.
