St. Petersburg Stadium Is One of the Best

The Internet portal StadiumDB summed up the results of the annual competition for the best football Stadium title — Stadium of the year 2017. Two Russian stadiums hit the Top 10.

The expert jury rated ten stadiums, which were able to reach the final part of competition, by three criteria, such as architectural value (max. 4 points), functionality (max. 4 points) and innovation (max. 2 points). The St. Petersburg Stadium with the sum of points 6.20 (architectural value 2.56, functionality 2.36, innovations 2.36) took eighth position. The top three are as follows:

Luzhniki (Moscow, Russia) — 7.84 points (architectural value 3.00, functionality 3.16, innovation 1.68);

U Arena (Nanterre/Paris, France) — 7.24 points (architectural value 2.76, functionality 2.96, innovation 1.52);

Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Atlanta, USA) – 7, 12 points (architectural value 2.52, functionality 3.04, innovation 1.56).

As for the parallel public vote, citizens from 106 countries all over the world took part in it. Countries such as Paraguay, Ecuador, Mexico, Russia and Poland were the most active voters. Site visitors were asked to evaluate the stadiums on the 5-point scale. In total, 53.083 votes were left. Besides, in this ranking were able participate even those stadiums that did not make it to the top ten of expert’s opinion. Total number of stadiums was 27.

The St. Petersburg Stadium managed to get higher position in this list and took 5th place with 44.882 pts. Moscow Stadium Luzhniki located on 7th positions with 38.170 points. These are the three of the most popular stadiums among the audience of StadiumDB:

Estadio General Pablo Rojas (Asuncion, Paraguay) – 79, 378 points;

Estadio Nemesio Díez (Toluca, Mexico) – 68.067 points;

Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Atlanta, USA) — 65.312 points.
