Natural Selection has opened the Lekkerwater Beach Lodge in the De Hoop Reserve, which is located east of Cape Town in South Africa.
The lodge features seven rooms, which are all perched on a cliff just feet from the coastline, offering panoramic views of the ocean; guests can expect to see dolphins and whales from the comfort of their beds. The southern right whales are seasonal visitors, but year-round pods of dolphins play in the waves right outside the lodge.
The main area offers 180-degree views of the coastline with vast, panoramic windows. A large communal table dominates the interior space, intended to bring guests together over meals to chat and share stories. The courtyard offers a more secluded space for relaxed meals and a "calm zone" for relaxing by the swimming pool.
The property also has a very strong sense of historical place. The summer house of the former South African president F.W. de Klerk, this is where he negotiated the end of apartheid and debated quietly behind closed doors the country's new constitution.
Natural Selection donates 1.5% of all revenue from Lekkerwater Beach Lodge to conservation projects.
Rates at Lekkerwater start at $460 per person, per night, inclusive of all meals, house drinks and guided activities. For more information, visit http://naturalselection.travel.
