Dubai Remains Open Despite Surge in Covid Cases

Coronavirus infection rates are surging to unprecedented heights in the United Arab Emirates with the daily virus case count almost tripling in the last month, however Dubai remains open.

Hotel occupancy rates in the city surged to 71% in December, according to data provider STR and the London-Dubai air route ranked busiest in the world over the first week of January according to aviation data analysis firm OAG.

Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, declared that widespread vaccination, not movement restrictions, would “accelerate the full recovery of our country”.
