【Introduction】:On Feb 2, 2016, WTCF Secretary-General Song Yu and Vice Secretary-General Yan Han met Uruguayan Ambassador H E Fe
On Feb. 2, 2016, WTCF Secretary-General Song Yu and Vice Secretary-General Yan Han met Uruguayan Ambassador H.E.Fernando Lugris in Beijing. They held exchanges and discussions about recommending renowned Uruguayan tourist cities to the WTCF, promoting the development of tourism and strengthening cooperation.

Song provided Mr. Lugris with some basic information about the WTCF and the progress of its members, and invited Montevideo and Punta del Este (Uruguay’s two most renowned tourist cities) to join. Song explained that the WTCF platform is capable of promoting multi-dimensional cooperation, strengthening the marketing of tourist cities, and intensifying exchanges between China and Uruguay and between Uruguay and other countries. It also offers Uruguay opportunities to showcase its cultural resources atinternational expos, in order to boost the development of its tourism industry.
Ambassador Lugris thanked his host for the invitation, and spoke about accelerating the participation of Montevideo and Punta del Este in the WTCF. His ultimate aim is to use this platform to promote Uruguay as a tourist destination to China. He plans to give priority to cultural heritage sites (such as Tango) as well as historical and cultural resources (includingafootball museum and abeef processing plant).
In February 2016, the WTCF Secretariat will visit Uruguay to gain a fuller picture of local conditions, customs, and tourism resources. It will also arrange full coverage of featured tourist destinationsin Uruguay to attract more international visitors. The overall plan is to strengthen communication and practical cooperation between Uruguayan tourist spots and institutions and their international counterparts.
