【Introduction】:From September 6 to 7, the meetings of WTCF’s sub-committees, including the Committee of Media Organizations, the Committee of Tourism-Related Businesses, Committee of Civil Aviation, the Expert Committee, the Committee of Investment, and the Committee of Cruise Industry were held during the Qingdao Summit

From September 6 to 7, the meetings of WTCF’s sub-committees, including the Committee of Media Organizations, the Committee of Tourism-Related Businesses, Committee of Civil Aviation, the Expert Committee, the Committee of Investment, and the Committee of Cruise Industry were held during the World Tourism Cities Federation Qingdao Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit 2018. During the meetings, the sub-committees summarized their achievements for the past year and discussed topics such as how to further discover and make full use of each committee’s advantages. They also expressed their determination to work together in the platform WTCF has provided, to strengthen organizational development, and promote cooperation among members.

The committees are sponsored by renowned, authoritative tourism and financial businesses, airlines, airports, media agencies, and are in collaboration with prestigious and competitive global institutions.

Meeting of the Committee of Media Organizations

The Committee of Media Organizations is committed to becoming an information outlet for world media to release the news about international tourism and urban development. During the meeting, the Hong Kong Ta Kung Wen Wei Media Group and Sina.com were elected as rotating deputy secretary units. Also, CCTV.com, Beijing Television, “World Traveler” magazine, Korea JoongAng Daily, and Australia Ostar International Media Group joined the committee. At the meeting, the members discussed the 2018-2019 working plan, and the committee will make full use of each individual media’s advantages to strengthen communication and cooperation to promote better development for tourism cities.

Meeting of the Expert Committee

The Expert Committee, which is both the senior advisory body and think-tank of the WTCF, conducts research on the major issues of the world tourism development, and provides suggestions for the development of the world tourism cities. At the meeting of the Expert Committee, the work of the committee from 2017 to 2018 and the work plan for 2019 were discussed. Also, seven committee members and three WTCF Specially Appointed Experts were newly added to the Expert Committee, which increases the member number of the Expert Committee to 35. In the future, the Expert Committee will continue its research on major cutting-edge issues regarding tourism cities, proactively communicate and cooperate with other international organizations, conduct the development strategy research of WTCF, and participate in the Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit and regional tourism forums in order to provide strong support for increasingly enhancing the influence of WTCF.

Meeting of the Committee of Tourism-Related Businesses and Committee of Civil Aviation

The Meeting of the Committee of Tourism-Related Businesses and Committee of Civil Aviation held a joint meeting. The two sub-committees include the world’s major airline companies and airports as well as Chinese and essential global tourism related companies, renowned tourism distribution groups, excellent tourism service provider groups, large financial and insurance groups, and mainstream internet online tourism groups. Combined, they have formed the institutions and industrial cooperation organizations under the platform of WTCF. At the meeting, according to the statutes of the two sub-committees, a new sub-committee council was confirmed, and it is expected to effectively interact with the market through close cooperation in order to play a greater role in boosting tourism development.

Meeting of the Investment Committee

The Committee of Investment was officially established during the WTCF Chongqing Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit, after many years of arrangement and preparation made by WTCF and the China Association of Private Equity (CAPE). It is a service platform under the WTCF to promote cooperation between city members and tourism enterprises as well as between the physical economy and capital market. Representatives of the WTCF secretariat and member representatives of the Committee of Investment and others attended the meeting. A general election was held during the meeting. Next, the Committee of Investment will continuously work hard to achieve the cross-border innovation and integrated development between WTCF city members and its institutional members, and lead and support the speeding up of and the healthy development of the tourism industry.

Meeting of the Committee of Cruise Industry

During the Meeting of Committee of Cruise Industry, the secretariat of Committee of Cruise Industry submitted the work report for the last year, introduced the general situation of Committee of Cruise Industry and proposed work plan in the next step. The members that attend the meeting put forward positive suggestions and advice. During the meeting, the new membership of Hurtigruren Cruise, Korea International Cruise Institute and Qingdao University were approved.

The 6th China International Cruise Summit (Qingdao) was held during the Qingdao Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit. The Cruise Summit includes activates such as the Opening Ceremony, Keynote Speech and Cruise Leaders forums, Cruise Ports & Destinations Forum, Cruise Cities & Tourism Forum, Cruise Home Port Construction Forum, Cruise Talent Forum, and Qingdao Cruise Tourism Promotion Conference & International Cruise Business Sales Training. The Committee of Cruise Industry of WTCF and Alibaba Group released the Consumer Reports of 2018 China Cruise Tourism Cities to build the exchange cooperation platform for the development of the Asia cruise industry and to discuss the win-win cooperation mode of the cruise industry in Asia.
