The 53rd Internationale Tourismus Boerse Berlin (ITB) lifted its curtain in Berlin, the capital city of Germany, on March 6. As the largest and most influential tourism exhibition, ITB, the “Golden Market” and benchmark of the tourism industry, demonstrates the latest tourism development concepts and global marketing methods, improving the world tourism industry greatly. The 2019 ITB covers an area of 160,000 square meters and includes 26 exhibition halls. The event attracts tens of thousands of institutions from 181 countries to display their tourism resources, negotiate business, and discuss tourism innovation and forward-looking trends.

At the opening ceremony, WTCF Executive Deputy Secretary-General Li Baochun, as the exclusive co-host representative, delivered a speech

WTCF attended the event as the exclusive co-host of this event for the 4th consecutive year. Mr. Li Baochun, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of WTCF, and the ITB convention representative, together with the Minister of Tourism and Culture of Malaysia, the guest country of honor of 2019, delivered keynote speeches at the opening ceremony respectively. Mr. Li briefed the audience on WTCF’s current status and international influence, and the big picture of the trend in tourism. He warmly welcomed more cities and related institutions to join WTCF.

On the afternoon of March 6, WTCF released two research results. Dr. Jin Zhun, Secretary General of the Tourism Research Centre, interpreted the Report on World Tourism Economy Trends (2019) according to global tourism economic development, the growth rate and its prospects. At the themed panel discussion with the topic of “How To Market Your Destination’s Products And Services To Chinese Outbound Tourists?”, panelists from Edinburgh Tourism Action Group, China Outbound Tourism Research Institute, Ctrip, and Sevilla Tourism shared their opinions from the perspective of the tourism industry, current market situations, destinations as well as OTAs, which expanded the ideas for understanding the Chinese tourism market.
