Lakeside Fairyland Scenic Area is located at Yongshengyu, six kilometers from the southeast of Gaochun county. To the east of this scenic area is Gucheng Lake with mists and waves stretching far into the distance. Inside the area, there are flowers, willows and rippling blue waves. Imagining yourself in this place, you may feel like you are entering a peaceful fairyland. That’s why it is called the “Lakeside Fairyland”. This Scenic Area is built on the basis of a fishing ground of the United Nations’ “2814 ” Project. It stresses the rich ecological resources of the Yongshengyu waterland. Around the Lakeside Fairyland Scenic Area are the non-polluting and organic ecological culture zones of crabs, covering an area of more than 4,000 mu.

These culture zones have become national demonstration zones of modern agriculture. Trees line the pools, and inside the pools, water plants grow in abundance. When a breeze blows over the pool, there are blue waves rippling on the surface. On either side of the scenic area’s street, there are more than 500 mu of lotus plantations. When summer comes, there are lotus flowers blossoming here and there and the lotus leaves will ripple in the moonlight, wafting a delicate fragrance.

The scenic area is rich in plants such as willows and peach trees. These evergreen plants are well-arranged in different heights. Such plants, together with natural sights like red flowers, green willows and wild reeds, paint a beautiful scenic picture. With an investment of more than 70 million yuan, this scenic area was built over three periods. Now it has two resorts like Lakeside Fishing Village, one agricultural area, one recreation area for outdoors development and driftage , one fishing center, one dragon boat racing area, and so on.

The scenic area is an integration of multi-functional scenic areas. It is a mixture of water entertainments, fishing, leisure and accommodation. The space of the scenic area is well arranged with well-proportioned pavilions, small bridges over flowing streams, the shadows of flowers and jumping fishes reflected with willows and lotus, as well as straight towering trees. All these sights form a typical rural scenic picture of the watery town of Yangtze River. In 2004 and 2005, the scenic area successfully got recognition from the national AA tourist attraction and the national agriculture traveling demonstration point.
