The MIC - Interactive Museum of Cinema - is entirely dedicated to the seventh art, set up by the Lombardy Region and the Fondazione Cineteca Italiana (Italian Film Archive Foundation).
The museum houses the heritage preserved by the Film Archive and makes it available to cinema fans through an interactive platform that adapts to the different needs of visitors. A 300m2 space in the ex-Manifattura Tabacchi (former tobacco factory) in Viale Fulvio Testi now hosts 20,000 films, 15,000 original posters, 100,000 stills and 300 precious devices, including original film equipment that once belonged to the Lumière brothers.
The MIC has been created as a teaching museum aimed primarily at schools and groups with reservations; they are offered genuine itineraries of knowledge and experience created ad hoc, plus, training workshops with industry professionals.
The tour is divided into three sections full of film simulation devices and rare items: "Pre-cinema and early cinema", "Milanese cinema animation" and "Films, directors and sets in Milan."
