It is not a garden, and neither a park. It’s a real forest in the city! This is the first example in Italy of urban forestation, covering an 80-hectare area, with dense forest in alternation with meadows, tracks, and agricultural crops.
Without moving far from the centre of Milan, nature lovers can savour long and invigorating walks, or ride their bicycles, in this forest, where you can breathe some real country air.
The entire area is criss-crossed by canals and streams of crystal-clear water. There is also an attractive lake, with ducks, turtles and dense reedbeds that have become a refuge for many aquatic birds.
Not far away is Cascina San Romano, where there is a picnic area with fountains, tables and benches, and a portico roof for shelter.
In summer, for younger visitors, special days dedicated to nature are organized. These exciting “Woodland Adventures” include the construction of huts and a search for glow-worms! Dog-lovers also have the chance to let their four-legged friends run at will in designated areas of this large forest.
