This museum is located in a converted Olivetan monastery dating back to the 16th century. The museum itself was opened in 1953, and today this historic institution has a total exhibition area of 40,000 square metres. It reviews the history of the scientific and technological development of Italian industry, with specific reference to transport: land, air, marine and rail.

The photographic archive of the public transport company ATM has a wealth of black and white and colour images running from the late 19th century up until the present day, with subject matter including means of transport, company staff, corporate enterprise, and views of the city.
Pirelli historic archive
Viale Sarca 222, Milan
The archive comprises written, film and photographic documentation on the company's development from 1872 up until the present. The museum, which was opened in 1947, also includes tyres, samples, and sections of cables used for energy transmission. From 1972 on, the documents are under the protection of the Lombard Archives Supervisory Authority.
