Hangzhou Theater was constructed, by the approval of late the late Premier Zhou Enlai, in 1978. For the past 26years, it has received more than 1,000 artistic troupes both from home and abroad and staged over 3,000 performances of various operas that brought 5 million audience members to see each production.

The theater occupies 9,536 square meters with a total floor space of 15,000 square meters. This 5-story building is 22 meters high. Its exterior walls are made of transparent curtain-style glass. The audience hall boasts more than 1,600 seats. Furnished with high-end equipment, it integrates multiple functions of performance, film show, cultural fair, leisure and entertainment.

The theater is on the west side of Wulin Square in Hangzhou’s business center.
