The Kuahuqiao Bridge was named after the Kuahuqiao (meaning cross the lake bridge) culture, which was discovered in 1990. Kuahuqiao Culture goes back to some 8,000 years to the Neolithic Age and is known as the earliest prehistoric civilization in China.
Kuahuqiao Relics Museum is situated in Xianghu Lake Scenic Area and opened in 2009. It’s a Kuahuqiao culture-themed museum that showcases the archeological finds in Kuahuaqiao Historical site and the research achievements. The museum covers an area of about 55,333 square meters with the building area 6,800 square meters. Mainly consisting of an exhibition hall and a preservation zone, the museum is shaped like a sailing boat, which was inspired by the first boat built unearthed at the Kuahuqiao Historical site.
