Xixi National Wetland Park is well known as the "Three Xi’s of Hangzhou," along with West Lake, and Xiling Seal-Engravers' Society. Covering an area of 10 square kilometers, Xixi National Wetland Park is located in western Hangzhou, less than 5 kilometers away from West Lake. It is China’s first and the only national wetland park, which combines urban, farming and cultural wetlands.
Water is the focal part of Xixi National Wetland Park. Water covers 70 percent of the park, creating a special habitat for various species of plants and animals. Six creeks crisscross the park, among which scatter various creeks, ponds, lakes and swamps.
Xixi National Wetland Park has 1,800-year history. It was first discovered in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420), flourished during the Ming and Qing dynasties but experience small decline before flourishing during modern times.
The calm and serene park has also attracted numerous literary authors, who drew inspiration from the park and into their works.
