UNIVERSITA' STATALE - MILAN
Starting from June 10th, 2015, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, a group of students from the Degree and Masters courses of Cultural Heritage, Archaeology, History and Criticism of Art will guide visitors to discover the Ca' Granda (Big House), the ancient community hospital for the poor and the oldest public hospital in Europe which, since 1958, has been the headquarters of the Milan Università Statale.
The Cortile d'Onore - central courtyard and the other courtyards - Balie - Wet Nurse, Ghiacciaia - Icebox, Legnaia - Woodshed, Farmacia – Pharmacy and Bagni -Baths together with the Porticato di Giurisprudenza - Portico of Law, the Crocevia -Crossing and the crypt of the SS. Annunciata church are the landmarks of this historic location and citizens and tourists visiting the complex will be able to learn about its fascinating history in great detail.
The 45-minute visits will take place on Wednesday afternoons (14:30 to 17:30) and Saturday mornings (9:30 to 12:30 hours), by reservation only by writing to e-mail visite.cagranda@unimi.it.
The Ca' Granda itinerary will still be freely accessible for visitors at all times thanks to the information sheets, in Italian and English, distributed at the entrance and at the 11 totems located in each of the stages of the itinerary that are equipped with touch screens and QR Codes enabling access for persons with visual disabilities.
