Citadel Music Festival 2016

For 10 years now the Citadel Music Festival has been an integral part of the Berlin summer. With up to 25 concerts per season the festival represents a musical journey through the warm months of the year and across all genres - from pop acts such as Silbermond and Ich und Ich via the more hard-rock style of Marilyn Manson or Rage Against The Machine right across to seasoned legends such as Bob Dylan or Chuck Berry.

As an open-air venue the Spandau Citadel provides a unique setting for memorable concert moments which are treasured by the musicians, too. In 2013 punk icon Patti Smith, for example, performed at the Citadel for the third time, and Billy Idol, Jethro Tull, Queens Of The Stone Age and Silver Moon have all made repeat performances.

In addition to music the Citadel Music Festival presents other forms of entertainment: every two years since the 2006 Football World Cup a huge family event has been attracting sports enthusiasts to the live screening of the World and European Championships at the historic fortress. In addition, every year the popular Night Market features the colourful bustle of market life in the courtyard of the Citadel with matching background music.
