Once the source of great literary inspiration to Hans Christian Andersen, where many of his famed fairy-tales were penned, the vibrant city of Copenhagen has a wonderful blend of history, medieval architecture, and modern cuisine, lending itself beautifully to the magic of the festive season. As the mercury drops, the township transforms into a cosy, candle-lit winter wonderland, making Christmas in Copenhagen something truly special.

Christmas in Tivoli Gardens is a dear Christmas tradition amongst Copenhageners as well as visitors to the city. If you are in Copenhagen during the months of November and December, do not miss Tivoli's Christmas market, sweets, decorations, lights and entertainment for kids and grownups.

True to tradition, the whole of Tivoli will be decorated for the season with spruce and myriads of fairy lights, and in addition to the Tivoli Illuminations over the Lake, Tivoli’s new light show can be experienced in the Chinese area under the Demon roller coaster.

The lights, the stalls, and the Christmas music permeating the park together creates the unique Tivoli Christmas atmosphere. The three separate light shows last for about five minutes each, and can be experienced multiple times over the course of an evening.
