Expect art as far as the eye can see in Vienna this fall. A major art fair, a week-long art festival, various exhibition projects, the Long Night of Museums and Vienna Photography Month will make the city a magnet for art fans and experts from all over the world this autumn.

Held in the Marx Halle in the third district from September 22-25, 2016, the viennacontemporary art fair is dedicated to contemporary art from Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe. Around 100 galleries participate in the event, which also features performances, special exhibitions and discussions with the artists themselves.

At curated by_vienna, which will take place from September 8-October 15 this year, international curators present various collections in selected Viennese contemporary art galleries. From September 21-25, 2016 Parallel Vienna, will take a different approach by shining a light on divergent positions in new and established contemporary art at the Alte Post building in Vienna’s historic city centre. On October 1, 2016, also known as the Long Night of Museums, a single ticket will grant culture buffs access to the exhibitions and collections on show at around 100 Viennese museums, galleries and cultural institutions between 6pm and 1am. The event also features discussions with artists, readings and live music. The Long Night ticket doubles up as a free pass for the special shuttle bus between participating locations and the Viennese public transportation network.

Eyes On – Vienna Photography Month (October 25-November 30, 2016) is Austria’s largest photo festival. The exhibitions range from historic and contemporary photography to scientific documentary photography and photography of everyday objects. Museums, galleries and art spaces are among the hosts alongside temporary venues dotted all over the city. A busy fall for art comes to a conclusion with Vienna Art Week from November 14-20, 2016 during which time a packed line-up of exhibitions, podium discussions, lectures, discussions with the artists, special guided tours, installations, interventions and performances turn Vienna into a mecca for art lovers and experts from all over the world for a whole week.
