People who love to shop should visit one of Seoul's shopping hubs, Myeong-dong. From Myeong-dong to Cheonggyecheon Stream stream, visitors can experience a festive, holiday atmosphere throughout the area. From Myeong-dong Station, walk in the direction of Namdaemun Marketand Shinsegae Department Store will come into view. In the winter the mall is draped with twinkling lights. At night, Shinsegae truly sparkles and with N Seoul Tower in the background, visitors are sure to remember this sight.
From the department store, continue walking until you see the Bank of Korea Money Museum. Past the museum, on the way to Cheonggyecheon Stream, is the Lotte Department Store. After you pass the Lotte Department Store, you will reach the stream. In November, Cheonggyecheon Stream is home to the Seoul Lantern Festival. After the festival wraps up, the stream’s footpaths are decorated for the winter season. The way from Myeong-dong to Cheonggyecheon Stream on foot will seem to go by in a flash when you’re taking in the beautiful winter decorations and lights that festoon Seoul. The decorations and lights change annually, so the atmosphere feels different each year. Even without any particular events running, simply spending time in the city during the winter feels special.

teamLab World is a digital media amusement park located in Seoul, and it opened on Aug. 5th, 2016. The amusement park was created by the digital art group teamLab and is the second one to open globally (the first location being in Singapore). The amusement park features art exhibitions as well as interactive art installations to enjoy. Using countless LED lights, the teamLab designers have created a magicial experience.
In the “Crystal Universe” installation, points of light constantly change to create a unique, 3-D light space. The “Flowers and People, Cannot be Controlled but Live Together – A Whole Year per Year” covers the growth cycle of a year, and the installation allows for visitors to observe and interactive with flowers that bloom and whither. There is also “Sketch Town,” which is based on drawings done by child visitors to teamLab World. After the 2-D drawings of the cars, buildings, UFOs and spaceships are created, they are scanned and projected onto a virtual 3-D townscape. Another popular aspect of teamLab World is the “Light Ball Orchestra.” The Light Balls combine to make an orchestral space. Light Balls change color and make sounds based on touch. This fun installation allows visitors to create music and to light up the room. teamLab World feels like something out of a fairy tale and adults will have as much fun as children exploring teamLab World!
