【Introduction】:Xiaoshan is the birthplace of Zhejiang Civilization and its Kuahuqiao Culture (Cross-the-Lake Bridge Culture) unearthed 8,000 years ago. It is also the nucleus of the Yue Culture, one of the two parts of Wuyue Culture (Jiangsu Culture and Zhejiang Culture) and an indispensable part of Chinese Han Culture. Not only recognized for having unearthed such profound culture, Xiaoshan is also home to a beautiful lake and landscape full of recreational activities for all the family.

Kuahuqiao Relics Museum

Opened in 2009 Kuahuqiao Museum, shaped like a boat, is a culture-themed museum which comprehensively displays the archeological findings from the Kuahuqiao Historical Site. The museum, encompassing an area of 55,000 sqm, consists of two halls: Exhibition Hall and Historical Relics Hall and through modern technology each showcases the magnificent 8,000-year-old Kuahuqiao culture. Besides an 8,000-year-old canoe, believed to be the first of its kind built in human history, other precious relics such as the world’s oldest lacquer bow and China’s oldest herb jar are also on display.

Xianghu Lake Scenic Area

Xianghu Lake is known as the sister lake to West Lake and is essentially the quieter version of its renowned sibling.
A visit to the lake and its surrounding area is full of breathtaking scenery and ancient culture. So having the chance to soak up this beautiful landscape, home to the oldest canoe in the world, the epic battlefield of Wu and Yue States, southern China’s states during the Spring and Autumn Period (771 BC- 476 C) and the birthplace of Xi Shi, one of the most famous ancient Chinese beauties, is definitely worth every step into Xiaoshan and its ancient old history.
Recommended attractions include: Reminiscing the Past in Chengshan Hill (城山怀古), Watching Fish in Xiangp, the Ancient Towpath of Xianghu Lake and Cross-the-Lake Bridge Spanning Xianghu Lake.
