Now spring has finally sprung we can all start to enjoy a season that is known for its warmth and color and, not forgetting the wealth of scenic spots, worthy of a spring outing or two. Here are just a few to get you springing into action…

White Pagoda Park

White Pagoda Park used to be the yard of Hangzhou Zhalongkou Railway Station and the departure station of Jiangshu Railway Station – the first railway station in Zhejiang. Although the venue is now a park, its tracks, trains and signal lights have all been preserved to maintain the station’s original elements. Taking a ride with the re-painted old trains through the park certainly transports you into today’s modern world.

Xiaohe Straight Street

Of all the walking streets along the Grand Canal, it is Xiaohe Straight Street that is the most primitive. Walking along the cobbled street is like stepping back in time but with its many modern facilities you are never too far from reality. In addition, there is also a zone for business starters, most of which is occupied by studios opened by those quietly weaving their dreams in the metropolis and wishing to become the next Jack Ma.

Zhijiang Campus of Zhejiang University

Walk two to three kilometers westwards after the Pagoda of Six Harmonies and you will find Zhijiang Campus of Zhejiang University. Of all the campuses of Zhejiang University (the newest and largest Zijingang Campus and the oldest and well-known Yuquan Campus), Zhijiang Campus is the most obscure one. There are approximately 16 old buildings and the most eye-catching ones are the red buildings with ancient roman architectural elements like the round archways and carved columns.
