Budapest… a city in a gorgeous natural setting coupled with a rich architectural and historical heritage, offering a vibrant cultural scene, fine cuisine and thermal baths — with the majestic Danube in the middle. Buda, with its romantic atmosphere on the one hand and Pest, a dynamic cultural hub on the other hand.
The Buda side with its historical baths and the Royal Palace, Matthias Church and the zigzagging alleys encompassing the Castle District emanates a sense of tranquility. On the other side, thanks to its rich museums and historical treasures, besides the majestic building of Parliament, the Great Market Hall, the St. Stephen's Basilica just as the extraordinary Art Nouveau architecture and the inspiring atmosphere of the 'Jewish quarter', Pest offers a bustling, vibrant scene.
The Hungarian capital deserves to be called a city with living history. As a spa city, Budapest is more than the sum of its bathing facilities it offers a unique blend of Roman, Ottoman Turkish and modern European bathing cultures. Budapest is no longer limited to restaurants, outdoor terraces and coffee houses, but rather features a cuisine consisting of a blend of traditional Hungarian flavors and the latest dining trends — from street-food to haute cuisine creations featured in the Michelin Guide. Budapest is also a peaceful meeting point of religions and cultures, a coexistence of the spiritual heritage of East and West. The Hungarian metropolis offers a highly developed cultural scene with its world-class festivals, theatres, museums, concert halls and sporting events.
All in all, the present-day Budapest is a melting pot of wide-ranging subcultures making it worth a visit, as it’s a familiar, man-sized and safe metropolis which also offers a wealth of novelties, experiences and surprises for open-minded visitors.
