The area of Greater Philadelphia has been able to achieve great heights in terms of tourist arrivals in 2016 for the seventh straight year according to a new report.
The city’s official tourism site known as Visit Philadelphia discovered that an overwhelming 42 million tourists had flooded Philadelphia during that time and also its neighbouring nations for a daylong or even an overnight stay marking a 2.4% increase from the year 2015.
The tourism sector also generated nearly $11 billion in 2016 in Philadelphia and in Bucks, Delaware, Chester and Montgomery countries, as found in the report.
A news release from the site mentioned that 37 million tourists had paid visit to the area for leisure.
Since the year 1997, the overall tourist numbers in the area have risen by 58% and overnight travellers to the five nations have doubled in this time from 7.3 million to 14.7 million in 2016. Meryl Levitz who is the CEO and president of Visit Philadelphia said that this region has emerged as a great destination with regard to investments in the culture, history and arts heritage of this part of the world.
