Foreign tourist arrivals in Morocco increased 4.6 percent in the first five months of 2019, Moroccan Tourism Ministry said.
The ministry said in a periodical report that 4.31 million tourists visited Morocco between January and May and the growth was mainly driven by the continuous increase of tourist arrivals from traditional European markets.
The statistics showed that the number of tourists from the United States to Morocco increased 14 percent and the number of tourists from Italy rose 12 percent.
Tourist destinations Marrakech in central Morocco and Agadir on the Atlantic coast generated 58 percent of the total tourist nights, it added.
In 2018, 12.28 million tourists visited Morocco, up 8.3 percent from the previous year.
