Green Safaris plans new luxe camp in Zambia's Kafue National Park

Green Safaris will be opening a new lodge, Chisa Busanga Camp, in the heart of the Busanga Plains, in the northern part of the Kafue National Park in Zambia. The camp is expected to open on June 1.

The camp, which will be open from June to November, lies on an island in the heart of the Busanga Plains, overlooking the vast floodplains that are teeming with wildlife and birds.

Chisa is the Nyanja word for "bird's nest." The name refers to the camp's remarkable architecture, as the four guest units have been built as treehouses in the shape of bird nests overlooking the plains.

Each "nest" offers complete privacy and a birds-eye view on the plains, both from the inside as from the units' observation decks. All units have an inside and outside shower, while the common area has a plunge pool.

The Chisa Busanga Camp will feature the Silent Safaris product, which employs electric game-drive vehicles, using top of the range Safari conversions, all solar-powered, to enable silent safaris, experience even greater game sightings, closer birdlife interactions and enjoy the sounds of the bush.

The camp can be reached by plane from Lusaka (about a 90-minute trip) or can be combined with a flight into the Ila Safari Lodge, another Green Safaris property, and a transfer to the Chisa Busanga Camp (about 80 minutes total). Combining stays at the two properties offers guests access to two distinct ecosystems within Kafue National Park.
